Amazing Kavalier & Clay
Tuesday 22 February 2005 @ 4:28 pm

Just finished reading Michael Chabon’s fantastic pulitzer-prize winning The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay.

Holy crap.

Just before that, I worked through In The Skin Of A Lion (Michael Ondaatje). Okay, perhaps “worked” is too strong a word. It’s a great book. It’s just the difference in the style of writing was so much different. Starting into Kavalier & Clay, I felt like I had just woken up from sleepwalking and found myself eating something delicious. Chabon’s writing style was overwhelmingly engaging and I found myself realizing I hadn’t loved a book that much in years.

They’re working on a film version of K&C, apparently. Chabon’s site mentions casting possibilities for the three principle characters as Toby Maguire, Natalie Portman and Jamie Bell. Of course, it’s too soon to tell.
